SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER, TORONTO & NEW YORK

Yabu Pushelberg, an award winning interior design firm that specializes in the design of high-end hospitality and retail design is currently seeking Senior Designers for our Toronto and New York studios. Successful candidates should consider themselves highly creative and this creativity and passion for design is demonstrated in your portfolio.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: To execute all phases of the production of a project with minimal supervision. Understand the clients’ requests, needs and desires and has the ability to follow through on them within the context of producing a YP design. Has the ability to mentor Junior and Intermediate Designers.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

CONCEPT
- Responsible for the development of concept design through planning, sketching, rendering
- Responsible for the Selection of directional images, and finishes

SCHEMATIC
- Acquire and coordinate samples from vendors
- Formulation of furniture boards
- Further develop concept design with sketches, thumbnails, plans and the creation of specialty finishes
- Refine finish selections

DESIGN DEVELOPMNET
- Flush out and refine the approved design language into buildable drawings
- Assist in any information the Spec department may require
- Review and implement design specifications with the Spec department, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes
- Coordinate with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project

CONTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
- Work with Project Management in the development of specialty custom built items
- Develop a complete drawing package, including detailing, elevations, and plans as per YP Standards
- Compilation and finalization of all FF&E pieces with sufficient information to pass through to the Specification Department
- Develop a small drawing package including full design intent of all millwork and custom furniture as per YP Standards
- Continue coordination with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project
- Review and implement necessary changes and additions with the Spec department, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes

CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
- Provide sufficient information when requested by the Project Management team in the development of budgets
- Answer vendor/contractor’s questions
- Review Shop Drawings and Submittal
- Provide site clarifications when necessary

MENTORING DESIGNERS
- Share and pass on design knowledge to Junior and Intermediate designers.
- Assist in the review of project documentation for quality of design, technical competency and completeness of information.

Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required):
- At minimum an Associate’s Degree in a related field of Design (Interior design, Architecture, Industrial Design, etc.)
- 7+ years of work experience necessary
- Extensive knowledge of the interior design profession
- AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch up and hand rendering skills are necessary for the position
- Additional 3D software skills are an asset.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: To execute most phases of the production of a project with supervision from Project Leaders and Team Leader. Has a basic understanding of current Yabu Pushelberg Design goals and expectations. With the guidance of a team Leader or Project Leader, able to understand the clients’ requests, needs and desires and has the ability to follow through on them within the context of producing a YP design. Has the ability to mentor Junior Designers.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBITY:

CONCEPT

PROCUREMENT MANAGER (15 MONTH CONTRACT), TORONTO

Yabu Pushelberg, an award winning interior design firm that specializes in the design of high-end hospitality and retail design is currently seeking a Procurement Manager to fill a 15-month opportunity in our Toronto studio.

The overall scope of the role will be to develop FF&E and Accessories budgets and procurement strategies. Liaise with clients/stakeholders for finalization of agreements for procurement. Executing on procurement from ordering stage, monitoring deliveries and overseeing on site installations. Reconciliation of accounts, and contract closeouts.

Key areas of responsibility:

- Coordinate with clients and Design Teams, Admin and Project Management to organize, schedule and prepare budgets
- Monitor project schedules, budget costs, and ensure compliance with design intent
- Review job progress and address pricing and scheduling concerns directly with client and YP Stakeholders
- Presenting budgets and negotiating with clients to achieve and maintain design intent
- Administration of all shop drawings and finish samples to be submitted for all projects
- Value Engineering where applicable for all aspects of FF&E and procurement
- Client contracts for procurement
- Procurement: soliciting best pricing from vendors, issuing purchase orders to vendors, coordinating payment schedules, maintaining delivery schedules, negotiating payment terms, monitoring orders, logistics, overseeing FF&E installation
- Some out of town travel may be required

Qualifications (necessary skills and experience required):
- Previous work experience in a related field of Design (Interior design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Fashion design, etc.)
- 3 + years of work experience necessary
- Adequate Knowledge of the Interior Design Profession
- Must have the ability to read drawings
- Good working knowledge of the furniture industry and related procurement
- MS Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Additional languages are a plus
