Genuine, by Name and Nature

Pukka was named by Ligne Roset’s founder, using a term associated with something genuine. For our first collaboration with Ligne Roset, the studio developed the narrative that would guide the collection, resulting in a series defined by sensual visual presence and tactile softness that invites interaction and use.

A Sponge with Influence

The Pukka collection traces its roots to the great C&B period, when Gaetano Pesce introduced his UP50 collection in 1969. That series paid homage to the sponge, inspired by Pesce’s fascination with the way a simple sponge in his shower would always return to its original shape.

This idea of resilient form established a reference point for Pukka, which offers a contemporary interpretation of responsive form.

Soft Shapes, Serious Swagger

We carried this idea forward by introducing soft and organic shapes to the collection. For inspiration, we looked to our team of youthful designers and the way they move through daily life.

By observing the surroundings of our Toronto and New York studios and our team’s outlook on life, we shaped a collection that remains relevant amidst shifts not only in design trends, but in evolving patterns of living.

Folds With a Point of View

We paired our design approach with Ligne Roset’s manufacturing expertise. To articulate the inspiration behind the collection, we designed a gentle tuck and fold shape that extends across the chairs, sofa, and ottomans. The detail of the stitching, the use of highly flexible foams, and the calibrated tension of the lines came together to create a masterful piece of furniture.

Elasticity Enters the Chat

To achieve the collection’s sculpted profile, the pieces are wrapped in elastic fabrics, including a 100 percent wool stretch velvet that conforms cleanly to its shape. The structure’s frame is clad in foams of varied densities over a high-resilience polyurethane base, with the back and seat clad in layered with foam defines the volume. For practicality, the cover may be removed by a professional.

Speaking in Curves

Ligne Roset’s expertise in upholstery shaped the collection’s soft, amorphous profiles, achieved through elastic materials and a minimal use of seams that give the design a clear, continuous profile. The Pukka collection includes a lounge chair, sofa, two ottomans, a coffee table, and a rug, which together speak a shared language.
