Honoring History While Looking to the Future

The design of the Park Hyatt Shenzhen honors the city's evolution from a fishing village to a major metropolis. Local materials and traditional craft techniques reference the region’s maritime roots, while public areas welcome a sense of community that encourages connection between guests and locals.

Cinematic Stillness

Inside, the experience slows the pace of the city. Influenced by Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love, the interiors balance light, texture, and proportion to create a dialogue between drama and intimacy.

Inspired by traditional Chinese courtyard houses, the spatial sequence moves from expansive public areas to smaller, more personal spaces, creating an atmosphere that resonates with local and world travelers.

A Partnership Built on Trust & Evolution

Each collaboration strengthens a shared vision of design and purpose. The project builds on the success of previous Park Hyatt properties while introducing new approaches rooted in locality, material, and craft.

The result is a continuation of a partnership defined by precision, curiosity, and a deep respect for heritage.

Heritage Expressed Through Artistry & Detail

Art and craft shape the identity of the hotel; Chinoiserie doors, sculptural bonsai, and regional inspired artworks connect Shenzhen’s layered cultural heritage.

From ballroom screens to hand-finished surfaces, each detail adds depth to the narrative, transforming history into a modern day expression of heritage and progress, linking the city’s past with its future.

"What I liked about the project was our creation of spatial variety throughout the hotel – moving from large, open spaces into smaller and intimate areas. There's always a visible transition of environments that change from architectural materials, to wood, to deeper colored materials, it also affects your mood."
