Digging Deep & Reaching High

Rising thirty meters above Leicester Square and plunging thirty-two meters below, the Londoner is a structural feat. Shaped by complex zoning, tight programming, and cross-disciplinary collaboration every meter was optimized to meet programmatic demands and expanded amenities - transforming architectural constraints into a cohesive vertical experience.

Program as Theatre

The spaces draw from Leicester Square’s theatrical spirit to shape sequence, mood, and flow, layering cinematic lighting, painted scenescapes, and architectural set pieces to foster a sense of performance.

Operational Art

Andrew Rae’s Moonhead anchors the arrival, while curated artworks in the guestrooms and spa establish the atmosphere. Textural and layered elements reinforce character and brand identity, giving each space its own distinct personality.

Intimacy at Scale

Public floors are divided into smaller, interconnected rooms to preserve individuality within the hotel’s communal areas. Designed for hotel guests, the Residence combines private lounges and work zones within a layout that transforms its expansive footprint into a series of human-scale settings, balancing intimacy, experience, and operational flow.

Team Work

Led by the New York studio, The Londoner united multidisciplinary teams across lighting, styling, industrial design, and textiles. Through horizontal integration and collaboration between both studios, a new vision for Edwardian Hotels was established.

"The hotel is an homage to performance, with each public space imbued with the character of someone essential for bringing a production to life. For example, Whitcomb’s all day is an ode to the screenwriter. Its poetically layered design gives the space character and a unique storyline, with specific decorative details such as the abundant harvest table introducing elements of whimsy and fantasy."
