Collected Calm

This project offered an opportunity to redefine the brand in a beachside context. While staying true to EDITION’s core character of refined elegance and cultural energy, the tone shifted toward clarity and retreat. A palette of cerused oak and soft drapery introduced a relaxed, coastal ease suited to Miami Beach’s energetic environment.

Making History

Preserving the hotel’s heritage while introducing modern touches, the space captures the spirit of the sixties through a contemporary lens. Gilt mosaic tiled columns, black and white flooring, and restored 1950s chandeliers honor the building’s history, while gilded columns are softened by light and a canopy of palms, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

Miami Cool

Mindful of the brand’s core principles of restraint and surprise, the program introduced unconventional experiences including an outdoor cinema, a mirror clad bowling alley, an ice rink, and a swinging night club. Botanicals anchor the space with indigenous vegetation, creating balance between control and natural expression.

Simple Ambience

The soft palette, defined by cerused oak and creamy tile, sets a calm foundation. Woven textures, soft drapery, and linen upholstery introduce a sense of effortless ease, while the art curation recalls the hotel’s history through saturated photography displayed salon style, and low votive lighting lends a quiet intimacy that completes the atmosphere.

"There was a lot of gold, but [in the end] we were able to do a very refined beach resort that feels like Miami," explains Ian Schrager, the hotel's developer. "The restoration captures what we thought the past was. We didn't have many visuals or documents to go back to, so we did our own take on it," explains George Yabu. "We love the fluidity."
