Leaning into legacy

Located off Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, the Park Lane New York builds on its legacy to reaffirm its position among the city’s icons. The two-year transformation balanced preservation with contemporary design, repurposing original details, layering color, pattern, and texture inspired by Central Park and the hotel’s Helmsley-era persona.

Reawakening a New York Original

Rooted in openness, the design reimagines heritage with balance and tone. Restored fixtures appear in new colors, while hand-painted murals by En Viu echo Central park’s landscape. Across 630 rooms, each guest room bridges nostalgia and renewal, extending the hotel’s character and history into the present.

Designing Within Limits

Working within the existing structure, precision and imagination shaped the reprogramming of underused areas into flexible venues that shift from café by day to bar by night, maximizing flow and footprint.

The Muse

Leona Helmsley’s famous pet, “Trouble” served as the muse - a playful character of mischief and charm that shaped the hotel’s renewed character. Through this lens, the Park Lane emerged as a place of curiosity and intrigue, connecting its eccentric history to a new generation.

"It was an unusual project for us because we normally start from nothing, the challenge for us, and we accepted the challenge, was we wanted to keep the romance and build upon it. It represents warmth, beauty and richness – our fantasy version of Central Park."
