Evasive Maneuvers
EDITION guests are discerning, seeking experiences that feel both unique and considered. The challenge was how a hotel designed for such guests could find its place amid the mass-market energy and glow of Times Square. The savvy founder, Ian Schrager, recognized the neighborhood as a nexus for business and fashion travelers and understood that a concept appealing to this audience would thrive.
Counterpoint Respite
To counter the intensity of the city outside, the design sets a calm tone from arrival. In the lobby, walls and ceilings of Venetian plaster envelop the space, while the “Black Room” offers a moody compression with its color-saturated paneled walls. Lush vegetation appears as living walls, introducing texture and providing separation from the urban surroundings. Guest rooms open into crisp whites and warm woods, offering a sense of quiet retreat within a city that never rests.
Revisiting our Foundation
We built on the foundational design elements established across previous EDITION properties, adapting them to this setting with a new sense of scale and energy. Tucked away on the 11th floor, the restaurant is wrapped in signature electric blue velvet and wood paneled walls that evoke the brand’s signature speakeasy atmosphere. The Paradise Club, anchored by a horseshoe stage and surrealist murals by Studio En Viu, feels familiar in spirit to EDITION travelers yet entirely unique to its place.
Opposites Attract
At EDITION New York Times Square, true cool emerges where opposites align, and the unlikely feels natural. The design finds harmony in opposing energies, from loud to quiet, highbrow to low, and busy to calm. Our team brought these worlds together with ease, creating a destination that thrives on the balance between contrast and harmony.

"The Edition does not fit the Times Square mold — but it is reclaiming it for New Yorkers, one garden cocktail terrace at a time."
